Pan-Mass Challenge: Through an annual bike-a-thon across the state of Massachusetts, the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The PMC was introduced to Jeff in 2015, when a colleague of his rode in his honor after Jeff’s cancer diagnosis. That experience meant so much to Jeff and the rest of the Abber family that the next year a PMC team, Jeff’s Justice League was created and will be riding in their 4th PMC this summer.
Caring for a Cure: Founded by the oncology nurses at Mass General Hospital (MGH), Caring for a Cure strives to improve the journey of patients and families with cancer through research, resources, and awareness.
Jeff received his treatment at MGH and through his many stays developed close relationships with his nurses. His nurses made what was a difficult situation so much easier for Jeff and his family with their support, positivity and care. They truly made MGH feel as much as it could like a second home for Jeff.
Hon. Jeffrey A. Abber Scholarship: A scholarship given to Malden High School senior who shares Jeff’s passions for law and/or social justice.
Jeff was a very active member of the Malden community through his participation in the Malden Redevelopment Authority, the Lions Club and youth sports. Additionally, Jeff’s law practice resided in Malden before he became a judge. Through this scholarship we hope to continue Jeff’s legacy by supporting students who share some of the same qualities that made Jeff who he was.
